Shenkar Technologies Limited - "ShenTech"
Shenkar Technologies Limited - "ShenTech" - is an English company established in 2001 to promote the commercial development and international marketing of original and innovative materials and products developed at Shenkar College of Engineering & Design.
ShenTech’s mission is to link commerce and world-class academic research in the fields of textiles and plastics, developing significant income streams through strategic alliances and licenses with major multinationals. As such it is part of the world-wide trend towards increased collaboration between business and universities.
ShenTech is a joint venture between Shenkar and the Borchard family. The Borchard family has been involved for almost a century in international shipping, property investment and recently technology-based investments. Borchard Lines has long been one of the most successful shipping lines sailing between Europe and Israel.
The Directors of ShenTech are Professor Amotz Weinberg, President of the Shenkar College of Engineering & Design and Richard Borchard.
The Chairman of ShenTech is Clemens Nathan, former Vice President of the Textile Institute. He was a leading London textiles importer and a valued supplier to Marks & Spencer. Mr. Nathan is a member of the International Board of Governors of Shenkar College and has been involved with Shenkar since its establishment.
The CEO of ShenTech is Richard Schiffer, a London-based American lawyer and English solicitor, with considerable business and entrepreneurial experience.
In establishing and operating ShenTech, a business development arm out of London, Shenkar has been able to establish a European base bringing it closer to its target markets in the United States and the EU countries. However ShenTech is more than a geographical and convenience link, it is also a practical and efficient bridge between the needs of customers and clients and the academic environment of Shenkar.
