The Israel Prize for Design to be Awarded to Professor Yarom Vardimon – The Dean of the Faculty of Design at Shenkar
 
The Dean of the Faculty of Design at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design is this year's recipient of the Israel Prize in the area of Design. Professor Vardimon was notified of his nomination yesterday, February 5, by the Minister of Education,  Mrs. Yuli Tamir.
The Israel Prize is the most prestigious award handed out by the State of Israel. It is presented annually, on Israel Independence Day, in a state ceremony, in the presence of the Prime Minister, the Knesset Chairperson and the Supreme Court President.
In their decision to award Professor Vardimon this prize, the nomination committee state that Professor Vardimon is one of the most important designers and educators in his field, and refer to his outstanding design work which is characterized by sharp, penetrating and sophisticated visual communication.
"In his talent and leadership, Professor Vardimon laid down deep insights for the future designers. As one of the leaders of the academization of design he had a tremendous impact on the perception of design in Israel".
The committee members also specify his wide range activities and his contribution to the professional field of design on the national and international scene.
