Students of the Departments of Industrial Design and Graphic Design designed creative toys inspired by circus artists. The sad clown who must make the audience laugh while he weeps behind his make-up.
Toys inspired by circus artists were designed in a joint project of the Industrial Design and Graphic Design, illustration specialization. The course on toy design was tutored by Yoav Ziv, a lecturer in the Department of Industrial Design and an expert in toy design, and the well-known illustrator Mira Friedman a lecturer in the Department of Graphic Design.
Students researched the conflicts and emotional struggle and the contradicting ideas that accompany the work of circus artists. Yoav Ziv explains "we freed the students from any commercial considerations in order to allow them to focus on ideas and aesthetics. Materials, cost and marketing did not affect the design of the toys. The result was magical toys."
