A competition to design a “Nesher Malt” bottle inspired by Tel Aviv’s Centenary, was won by Nadav Shtreimer, a third year student at Shenkar. The competition took place within a cooperative framework between the graphic design track at the Visual Communications Department in Shenkar College of Engineering and Design and Israel’s leading soft-drink manufacturing company, Tempo. The winning bottle design will be marketed in a limited series of half a million bottles. In addition, its creator was awarded entrance to a prestigious international design contest.

Nadav Shtreimer's winning design is a type of trivia game, including a series of fifteen icons on the front of the bottle, representing significant historical events in the founding of the city. Consumers who buy "Nesher Malt", can guess the events that turned Tel Aviv into such a unique city by the icons on the front and can compare their answers with the solutions found on the back of the bottle.
A special panel of judges comprised of the marketing staff of the company and the academic faculty of Shenkar, chose the winning design from twenty designs emphasizing personal creative and original stories linked to the “100 Years to Tel Aviv” theme.
Itzik Rennert, Head of the Visual Communications Department stated that the Department of Visual Communications is pleased to promote projects connected to requirements in the “real world” and with the professional aspect of the students’ studies. Meeting with the interested client, and blending outlook and crystallized ideas concerning characteristics of the product brand-name on the one hand, with the boldness ,originality, research and freshness of the students, on the other hand – bring fascinating and profitable results to both the business and academic sides.”
