During his visit to Shenkar, Weitzman met with the President of Shenkar, Prof. Amotz Weinberg; Head of the Fashion Design Department, Leah Perez; and Head of the Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations Department, Varda Kalmar. Following a request by Leah Perez, Weitzman agreed to take on a student intern in his company's offices in Spain.

On his tour of the Design Faculty graduate exhibition, Weitzman experienced close-up the anxiety and excitement of the graduates, alongside impressions of the creativity and originality of the various creations.
The connection to the Weitzman couple began a number of years ago as the initiative of Charlotte Fainblatt, the Executive Director of the American Friends of Shenkar. Jane Weitzman was the spirit behind the Weitzman-Albert Education Initiative at the Harel Elementary School in Bat Yam, with the cooperation of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee JDC-ISRAEL and Shenkar College, whose students instructed the children and exposed them to various art fields.
